If you’re heading to Koh Samui and wondering how to book an airport transfer without overpaying or overthinking it… good news, it’s way easier than you might expect.
This is one of the most common questions we see on Facebook community groups, and honestly, it’s so simple. Here’s exactly what we recommend 👇
1. Ask Your Hotel or Villa First

Before you arrive, check if your hotel or accommodation offers an airport transfer. Most hotels in Koh Samui, especially luxury resorts, villas, and Airbnbs, can organise:
- Private airport pick-up
- Shared minivan transfers
- Trusted local drivers at fixed prices
Luxury hotels will often include this as part of your stay, while mid-range stays usually offer it as an add-on. Even if it’s not listed on their website, ask anyway. A lot of places have drivers on standby or partnerships with local taxi services.
And just to be clear, Carl does not actually work for Kimpton Kitalay or any hotel for that matter, he just cannot resist a photo opportunity… and if he finds a prop to be had, you best believe he’s getting his photo. It is a very nice hotel, mind you.
2. You CANNOT Use Grab, Bolt or InDrive at the Airport
Apps like Grab, Bolt, and InDrive are not allowed to pick up passengers directly from the airport.
They can drop you off, but if you try to order one on arrival:
- You’ll need to walk outside the airport area
- There are no proper pavements
- Roads are narrow, busy, and not luggage-friendly
After a long flight… it’s just not worth the hassle.
3. The Easiest Option: Official Airport Taxi Desk

This is our go-to every time. Once you land at Samui Airport, collect your luggage and head towards the exit, you’ll see a small taxi desk.
- Fixed, transparent pricing ✔️
- No negotiating ✔️
- Pay upfront (cash) ✔️
- Staff organise everything for you ✔️
- You’re taken straight to your car (usually a comfy minivan) ✔️
Last time we used this service, May 2025, it cost 400 THB (£9–£10) to Fisherman’s Village.
Yes, taxis in Samui are slightly more expensive than in other parts of Thailand, but this is the standard rate, not a tourist markup.
There’s also an ATM right nearby if you need cash.
After a long-haul flight, the last thing we’re doing is dragging our suitcases down uneven roads, whilst dodging traffic, all to save a couple of quid. Sometimes convenience just wins.
