After almost three years of living in Thailand, we finally made it to Bangkok (I know, I know!) and what better excuse than a last-minute decision to see Green Day live? Our stay was short (and chaotic), but we packed in as many incredible foodie experiences as we could, all in the Sathon district.
From rooftop cocktails with jaw-dropping views to some seriously impressive cuisine, here’s everywhere we ate, drank and explored during our 48 hours in Bangkok—plus a few handy tips and links to help you plan your own foodie adventure.
Where We Stayed
FuramaXclusive Sathon

It’s a budget-friendly 4-star hotel with a pool and a central location for exploring the Sathon district. The rooms were simple but spacious, with all the essentials for a short city stay; comfy bed, air con, hot shower, and even a little desk area if, like me, you need a little space to work. The pool was a bonus, and at around £30 per night, it ticked all the boxes for us. It’s not the height of luxury but it’s clean, well-located, and offers great value for money.

From Japan to Italy in Sathon
Teppen Sathon

Tucked away on a quiet street, Teppen might not immediately grab your attention from the outside, but trust us, this one is worth looking for. The space is sleek and modern with nods to traditional Japanese style, wooden furnishings, soft lighting, and an open kitchen. The industrial-style decor is elevated with warm lighting and bold art pieces that reflect the restaurant’s fun and vibrant energy.
The food? Flawless. Every dish that arrives at your table looks like it’s been prepared for a photoshoot, exquisitely plated, thoughtfully garnished, and packed with flavour. But it’s not just a pretty face, Teppen delivers seriously good food.
What we ordered and loved:
- Truffle Crab Miso Bread – Rich, earthy perfection. We still talk about it and how we definitely should have ordered more than one.
- Crispy Dumplings – Little parcels packed with flavour served with dipping sauce.
- Salmon Avocado Roll – You really can’t go wrong.
- Freshly Prepared Sushi – A stunning selection for just 490 THB (£11)!
Teppen’s menu is cleverly paired with drink suggestions—crispy corn with an ice-cold beer? Don’t mind if we do. Their cocktail list is also excellent, with a mix of Japanese ingredients and playful twists on classics.
Service is warm, attentive, and fun. If you’re celebrating something special, let the team know—they’ll make a real moment of it.
💡 Tip: Book in advance—it’s a popular spot for good reason.
Scarletta Pasta Bar

Scarletta Pasta Bar is an absolute hidden gem. It’s tiny with just a handful of indoor tables and a few seats at the counter. The vibe is relaxed and welcoming, like you’ve been invited into someone’s home. Plus, everything is homemade, including the focaccia and pasta.
What we ordered:
I chose the Prawn Linguine from their set lunch menu (incredible value at just ฿350 / £7.95). It was tossed in a rich, silky tomato base with fennel, cherry tomatoes, chilli, garlic, lemon and parsley. The set lunch also includes a side of either salad or toasted focaccia, and a choice of gelato or coffee to finish. Add a glass of house wine for just ฿190 (£4.30).
Carl opted for the Prawn & Salmon Ravioli Seafood Alla Panna from the standard menu, a generous portion of handmade ravioli with mixed seafood, creamed bisque and fresh herbs, absolutely delicious.
It’s clear that everything is made with love, and we were so tempted to go back again the next day. If you’re in the area, make this your go-to for comforting, authentic Italian food at a great price.
💡 Tip: It’s a small space, so arrive early to bag that great lunchtime special.
W Bangkok – The Kitchen Table

Located inside the stunning 5-star W Bangkok, The Kitchen Table is a vibrant all-day dining restaurant with both air-conditioned indoor seating and an outdoor terrace that overlooks Bangkok’s skyline. From the moment you walk into the restaurant, you’ll notice the glowing yellow snake print that winds dramatically around the walls.
Although you’re dining in a luxury hotel, the vibe is anything but stuffy. The menu caters to everyone, from Indian curries and Italian pastas to build-your-own burgers and premium steaks. Carl went for the Jack’s Creek tenderloin (฿1390) with béarnaise sauce and shoestring fries (฿120), while I ordered the Panchratna Dal (฿350)—a rich five-jewel lentil curry—paired with Homnil organic rice (฿80). Both were beautifully presented and packed with flavour.
There’s also a Saturday night seafood and sushi buffet that looked incredible, with fresh oysters, smoked meats, sushi platters, and more. It’s a popular option, so we’d definitely recommend booking ahead, especially for dinner.
💡Tip: You don’t need to be a hotel guest to dine here, but booking a table in advance is a good shout—it guarantees you a warm welcome and a prime seat, especially during peak hours.
After lunch, we took our wine to the outdoor balcony to soak up the sun. From there, you can see King Power Mahanakhon, one of the tallest buildings in Bangkok, with a jaw-dropping glass skywalk. (Yes, we watched tiny people walk out onto it from the safety of our table on the ground 😅).
For a special meal with a relaxed vibe and exceptional service in the heart of Sathon, this is a must-visit.
Rooftop Cocktails & Live Jazz
Yào Rooftop Bar

No trip to Bangkok is complete without a visit to one of the city’s iconic rooftop bars and Yào Rooftop Bar, perched on the 32nd floor of the Bangkok Marriott Hotel The Surawongse, delivers on every front: sweeping skyline views, stylish vibes and unique and creative cocktails.
The journey to the top is part of the fun. After being greeted in the grand Marriott lobby, you’ll be directed through a series of elevators, including one open-sided lift. Once at the top, the city unfolds beneath you—glittering lights, distant skyscrapers, and the slow-moving Chao Phraya River far below.
We were lucky enough to be seated right on the edge of the rooftop, and the view alone was worth the visit. The city felt alive beneath us and we could even spot the colourful boats drifting along the river.
The Drinks:
This place knows how to make a cocktail. You’ll find all the classics, but we highly recommend trying one of their signature concoctions, each crafted with unique ingredients. On average, cocktails cost around ฿500 (£11.35), and in a city like Bangkok, with that view, we think it’s excellent value, especially compared to rooftop bars in London.
Feeling Peckish?
Yào also offers a late-night bites menu and dim sum, perfect if you’re not quite ready for a full meal but want something to nibble while soaking up the atmosphere. It’s ideal for a pre-dinner drink or as your final stop after an evening out in the city.
💡 Tip: Book in advance. This is not the kind of place you can stroll into last minute—reservations are essential if you want a prime table.
365 Days Jazz Bar

365 Days Jazz Bar is small, moody, and dripping in speakeasy charm. With only a handful of tightly spaced tables, low lighting, exposed brick, and candlelit corners gives it an almost New York jazz club feel. It opens nightly at 7:00 PM, so if you’re hoping for a front-row seat to the music, it’s best to get there early.
A live jazz band plays every night, and they are seriously talented. The music adds a romantic edge to the evening without overpowering your conversation, perfect for a low-key date night or chilled catch-up with friends.
The Cocktails:
The drinks here are an experience in themselves. Priced around ฿400 (£9.20), they’re handcrafted by expert bartenders who clearly know their stuff. The cocktail list is playful and creative, with names like Cheek-to-Cheek, Tenderly, Fly Me to the Moon, and Turn Me On. Expect flavour combinations you won’t find elsewhere—like craft coconut, marmalade, rose tea, yuzu foam, and fresh pineapple juice, all shaken into one glorious glass.
💡Tip: It’s walk-in only, so arrive early to grab a table.
