We’re Lauren & Carl, originally from the beautiful seaside town of Brighton in the UK, but in June 2021 we decided it was the perfect time for us to wave goodbye to our little city by the sea and head off on a European adventure.

2020 was a tough year for all of us, no one could have predicted the lockdowns, the panic buying, the loss of lives, jobs, stability, finances, it has to be said it wasn’t the best year. We were incredibly fortunate, and although Lauren was made redundant very early on in April, Carl was put on the UK’s furlough scheme, meaning that we still had an income and were able to continue living a relatively normal life. We took our daily walks along the seafront, made banana bread, tried dalgona coffee and binge watched Tiger King. Then in January 2021 Carl was given the news that his role was being made redundant and so we took this as a sign to change things up a bit and plan out a little adventure.

So here we are, currently sitting in an apartment built into a 16th century castle, with a view of the Adriatic sea, sun beaming through the windows and we’re 4.5 months into our European adventure. Has it been difficult to adjust, sure, but do we regret selling all our belongings and leaving the comfort of home… no.

It really has been an incredible adventure so far and we’re excited to share our top tips for travel during a global pandemic, first hand experience of what travelling by air, land and sea looks like and what documents you’ll need to show during travel as well as our favourite restaurants, bars and things to see and do are in each country or city we’ve visited. And as a keen home cook, Lauren will also be sharing local recipes and foodie traditions, along with quick and easy meals to make in your pokey, unequipped, Airbnb kitchens.
