The best breakfasts in (and around) Fisherman’s Village Bophut, Koh Samui

We hear from a lot of friends and people we meet in Koh Samui that they always struggle to find a good place to go for breakfast. Fisherman’s Village has many small boutique hotels and not all of them serve breakfast, but you’ll also find that many of the restaurants here do not open until later in the afternoons, so we’re here to help you find the perfect spot to enjoy a Full English, healthy smoothie bowl or flaky croissant and coffee.

There are plenty of options in the village but we have also included some of our favourite cafes in the Bangrak area, which is just 5 – 6 minutes away by bike/songthaew.

Just as a reminder, as with all of our blog posts, the cafe/restaurant names are linked so you can head straight to their socials/website to check out the menu, opening times and locations.

Let’s get going…

Fisherman’s Village

Sasatorn (just outside of Fisherman’s Village)

Sasatorn is just outside of Fisherman’s Village (within walking distance) and serves Australian-style breakfasts. Think epic avo toasts, smoothie bowls, waffles, frothy coffees of all shapes, sizes and colours, fluffy pancake stacks and even indulgent breakfast burgers.

Price-wise wise we think this place is pretty reasonable for Western-style food, especially given the location. The priciest breakfast items are the burgers at ฿250 (£5.35) but most items are priced between ฿180 (£3.85) & ฿235 (£5.00).

Pictured is the dish ‘Smashy Light House’ which is toasted sourdough with smashed avocado, garlic, and parmesan, topped with lightly fried cherry tomatoes, feta cheese & seeds costing ฿235 (5.00) plus the addition of some scrambled eggs at ฿50 (£1.05).

The service is always wonderful and they also serve up some very beautiful and tasty lunch dishes, so it’s well worth a visit.

Summer by Coco Tams

Summer is part of the popular Coco Tams venue and is equally as aesthetic and Instagrammable as the bar and restaurant. It’s easily the most expensive place on this list and the service is something to be desired, BUT, if you want a relaxed morning by the beach with a fruit juice, a cute coffee and some tasty breakfast this place opens from 8am every day.

This tiny piece of thinly spread avocado toast with tomatoes comes in at a whopping ฿340 (£7.26), so in our opinion there are better value places for breakfast but it does have a beautiful beach location if that’s what you’re looking for.

Beach Coconut Bowls

This sweet little cafe is located in the east end of Fisherman’s Village – head down to the boat and turn right. First thing you’ll notice are all the shoes outside – make sure to remove yours before entering. It has a real bohemian vibe here, with lots of textures and different seating types.

Beach Coconut Bowls are famous for their colourful smoothie bowls, but you can also pick up a selection of healthy toasts, chia puddings, sushi rolls and snacks. You can’t go wrong with avocado toasts and eggs in our opinion but we can also highly recommend the Blue Mermaid smoothie bowl with blue spirulina, mango, banana, vanilla protein and coconut milk. Absolutely delicious. You can also grab your frothy cappuccinos here with a variety of plant milks for no extra cost.

Coffee Connextions

Coffee Connextions is located in the east end of Fisherman’s Village, almost at the very end. It’s a cute coffee shop, light and airy, with lots of plants and has a dedicated coworking space with plenty of power sockets, good wifi and a large desk area to use. Here you can pick up vibrant smoothie bowls, loaded croissants, toasted sandwiches and baguettes, plus a brilliant selection of teas, speciality coffees, smoothies and juices. They also have a juice detox programme for anyone looking to kick start their health journey.

The priciest croissant here is the smoked salmon and cream cheese at ฿325 (£7.00) but you can also pick up a delicious sweet and flaky almond croissant for just ฿140 (£3.00). The Super Green smoothie bowl comes in at ฿295 (£6.35) and has a healthy mix of avocado, kale, mango, banana, spirulina, and topped with chia seeds, to give you a real energy boost. They often host networking events on the weekend for those who are new to Samui and looking to connect with like-minded people, so keep an eye on their events page for those.

Bar Baguette

Bar Baguette is located opposite Coco Tams on the west side of the village. It’s a little pricy by comparison to some other cafes on the list but it does have a prime location and if you just fancy a short stroll and a nice view, then this is a great spot. We often stop by to enjoy one of their Thai teas, which is a real treat. For those of you who have never tried Thai tea, it is a strong black tea mixed with condensed milk, making it very sweet, but absolutely delicious.

A big breakfast here includes baguette (or bread of your choice), bacon, smoked ham, two eggs, potato & tomato hash, steamed spinach and costs ฿235 (£5.05). They also have pancakes, croissants and Croque Monsieur on the menu.

Cafe de Fisherman’s (currently closed for refurb – June 2024)

This little cafe is located just inside the entrance of Fisherman’s Village and is open six days a week, closed on Sundays. You won’t find a Full English here, but you can choose from a range of breakfast options, eggs, bacon, mushrooms, tomatoes, crusty white bread, fruit and yoghurt but our favourite has to be the avocado toast with cherry tomatoes and feta. It’s light, fresh and delicious and the perfect way to start your day of adventure. They also have a great selection of coffees, juices and smoothies.

Pop in and say hi to Nan who owns the cafe, she’s always got great energy and a great story to tell.

Bangrak

The Deck (3 mins from Fisherman’s Village)

The Deck is more than just a beautiful beach club, they also have an incredible restaurant that serves some delicious breakfast options. I am a sucker for avocado toast so it’s always my go-to brunch choice but they have everything you could want and more, smoothie bowls they’ve got plenty, pancakes they’ve got chocolatey, fruity and nutty versions, cooked breakfasts, protein packed breakfasts and of course, the king of breakfasts, eggs benedict.

The best thing about visiting The Deck for your breakfast or brunch is that afterwards you get to enjoy a sunbathe and swim (although not straight after your brekkie, you understand).

Pictured is the ‘Toast Bacon & Eggs’ which is sourdough toast, scrambled eggs, bacon, feta cheese, avocado, basil & cashew pesto sauce and baked cherry tomatoes. This comes in at ฿320 (£6.85) so not the cheapest location on the list, but you can make a morning of it with use of the sunbeds and swimming pool.

La Fabrique (4 mins from Fisherman’s Village)

La Fabrique is a cute French bakery and cafe in Bangrak, famous for their homemade breads and pastries. You can dine in and enjoy a cooked breakfast, including eggs & bacon, omelettes, french toast, waffles and bagels, or if you want to grab a takeaway pastry and coffee this is a great option.

Most of the cooked options come in at around ฿200 (£4.25) or grab a latte and a croissant for just ฿70 (£1.50) each.

Bangrak Cafe (4 mins from Fisherman’s Village)

Bangrak Cafe is a no-frills kind of place, but if you’re looking for a traditional English fry-up, there really is no place better. You can pick up a small set breakfast which includes two eggs, bacon, sausage, beans, tomatoes, two toast and tea or coffee for just ฿160 (£3.45). They also have a veggie option, omelettes, baguettes, sandwiches and pancakes, plus a selection of teas, coffees, juices and smoothies.

Nang Sabai (6 mins from Fisherman’s Village)

Probably the finest bagel I have ever eaten in my life! Carl reckons the shakshuka was also a 10/10. Nang Sabai is 6 minutes drive from Fisherman’s Village but well worth a stop, just look how full that bagel is, my mouth is watering just thinking about it. All the bread and bagels are made in house and you can buy these to takeaway. These guys know how to do breakfast, you can build your own cooked option, the classic avo toast allows you to add a choice of toppings, they have pancakes and porridge, toasties, museli, shakshuka and of course, those dreamy bagels.

Pictured is the cream cheese, cucumber and tomato bagel ฿90 (£1.90) + ฿50 (£1.05) for avocado (I know it’s steep for avo, but I just love it ok!) and the baked shakshuka with sourdough toast is ฿120 (£2.55). Can you believe these prices? So, good. And if you’re an early riser this is the place for you, they open at 7am Wednesday – Sunday, from 8am on Mondays, closed on Tuesdays. PLUS, if that wasn’t enough, they have some incredible vegan breakfasts on offer, including their homemade walnut cream cheese for the bagels. Definitely one of our favourite places to visit.

Cafe K.O.B by the Sea (6 mins from Fisherman’s Village)

You’re probably sick of seeing my avocado toasts by now, but yes, here’s another one.

Cafe K.O.B has many locations, this particular branch has beautiful sea views but there is also a branch closer to Fisherman’s Village on the main ring road that offers the same menu. I’m a sucker for good scrambled tofu on toast and these guys always deliver. Plus I’m told the quality of the sausages and bacon here are far better than many other places in the area. For one they serve back bacon which is rare in Thailand.

The menu here is LARGE and has something for everyone. Cooked breakfast, vegetarian and vegan options, alternative milk for coffees, freshly baked pastries, Asian dishes, you name it, they’ve got it.

Pictured is the Full English Breakfast which includes eggs of your choice, ham, home-cured bacon, Cumberland sausage, orange juice, coffee or tea, toast with butter and jam. This comes to a grand total of ฿280 (£6.00). Scrambled tofu on sourdough is ฿140 (£3.00) and the chunky avo on toast comes in at ฿160 (£3.40). All in all, great locations around Samui and a great variety of options for all the family. Worth a visit.

Pink Salt (7 mins from Fisherman’s Village)

Pink Salt can be found opposite the Seatran pier in Bangrak and is a cute little cafe/bistro that offers a range of Western and Thai dishes. They have a full selection of breakfast options including a Full English, avocado toasts, fluffy omelettes, pancakes and the king of brunch, eggs benedict! They also have a large selection of teas and coffees available, the iced latte is definitely a favourite.

Prices are very reasonable with a Full English breakfast that includes two eggs, bacon, beans, tomato, mushrooms, sausage, hash brown, tea or coffee and juice, coming in at ฿320 (£7.00). Banana pancakes will set you back ฿170 (£3.70) or our favourite, crushed avocado on sourdough toast with smoked salmon costs just ฿290 (£6.30).

So that’s our breakfast and brunch round-up. If anyone asks you ‘where can I get a good breakfast in Fisherman’s Village?’ now you know.
